Every little girl dreams of being a princess for a day. This little one came close to being one in every way. Simply delightful to work with. The images of the details came to light when I had a flash forward to her wedding day. What a way to capture her journey through her spiritual life. Congratulations on 1st Communion.

This is Mr. Drew and I have to say that I fell completely in love with this little man. He cooperated so much with our ideas until...duh duh dum....mommy was holding his little bare bottom. I say back in place. The HULA GIRL on the yellow trailer...was it true...could it be....summer must be officially around the corner. Warm days, breezy nights, kids in the backyard, fire in the firepit and PINEAPPLE WHIP! West is now one happy boy since he broke in the checkout line at 3:45 today. Ben Nelson is the owner and they have been a life saver. My computer earned a name this week, in fact for the last month I've been calling her terms of endearment. I am amazed at the energy everytime I go into this place. Larry, Robyn, Max, Casey are all fabulous at their jobs. If you are looking for a place that is reasonable and incredible at the same time go to them. I take both kids and myself there and would not go anywhere else now. Photographing a photographers kid always a challenge!

Well we've all heard Weston stories and this one was in typical fashion. We are way past due on pics of the kids. He hates it almost as much as he hates homework!!!!
Well these are from today. But only after his grandma got him pumped up would he pose for me. It wasn't easy, in fact the good part only lasted 5 minutes with him. It all started at 3 pm when he knew I was headed home to get him. He calls and says he wasn't in the mood and thought he'd better just stay with grandma. I tell him he was incorrect and he most definatly be posing and SMILING! He then brought up the fact that since he's been in front of the camera since he was 2 he didn't think I could make him pose for me any more. He basically thinks that he's paid his dues....LOL! Well I'm proud of him he did, albeit unwillingly. They are awesome images and I'll post some tomorrow. I hope the ones behind bars aren't a precursor! EEK!

Madi of course did great, she's my pleaser and her being girly AND a preteen she's more than willing. I sometimes find it hard to believe she's almost a teenager. Hey when did Dwayne and I get old? LOL!

Now the kicker comes when I finally get the guts and get in front of the camera to mark my 7th month of training. Talk to you all soon!

Schools been out 2 weeks and no one has killed each other at my house....yet.

The studio move was such a blessing. However...I did not know how the kids would fare now that Madi is old enough to watch West. Day one I get a phone call at lunch time stating that they could not eat lunch because there were only, and they stressed the "only" 9 ravioli's in the can. I can imagine West standing there counting and looking at her thinking there is NOOOOOO way I can ever share this can with her! Thank goodness there was a can of spaghettios to add to the lunch menu. I could hear my mom in my head as I was answering them....now that's a scary moment!

(sorry mom, I'm sure you felt the same way when you heard grandma's in yours. YIKES!)

Here's to surviving the summer. LOL!

Yikes Schools Almost OUT!!!!!!

With that thought let me say....please not so fast! LOL! Ok maybe not really, life has been crazy and I'm having a heck of a time with homework and my West. Not sure he grasps the whole "open book test" thing. That can be the only reason why he has chosen to not use the book twice. UGHG!!! Now that is stubborn confidence. Those that know him and know me can tell you the apple didn't fall from the tree. That has not helped me in the moments when I want to run. That child is the most affectionate little thing, giving, kind, hilarious...and let's face it STUBBORN!
Ya'll might check on me after schools been out a week, see who came out of it all unscathed.

Seriously, hug those babies they grow up so fast. I know I feel like I blinked. Now it's hard to let them get bigger. Who would have thought you could love someone as much as we as momma's love our babies.

Wine and Cheese night!

Oh my...what an evening it was, I felt like cinderella! I hosted my first annual wine and cheese evening and it was a huge success. There were about 50 guest and a good time was had by all at the invitation only event. Thank you all to the huge support, you all have made this adventure simply amazing!

Special thank you to my husband and children who've been incredible through this journey, and were all a huge help in pulling off my party.

Special thank you to my family. Our parents and my sisters who've always believed in my dream. My younger sister Sarah couldn't make it and I missed having her here and love her dearly. My sister "Opie" is the one getting the kiss, she has hated that for 38 years and she's going to hate it for the next 38! LOL! I've always admired her strength.

Special thank you to my very close friends who always support me when I need it most and the times I don't realize I need it. I love you all!

Meet Casey. He works at I.D. salon in the same strip as the studio.

He was in need of shots that reflected his personality and stopped by one night. After we talked about him auditioning for some modeling stuff we went to town on his session.

I'm so proud of him, today he gave me some awesome news! You never know you just might see him on t.v. before long! Wink Wink...That's all the dish I can give on him. You want more info you gotta book an appointment with him. LOL! By the way he does an awesome job!

Biggest Winner challenge OVER!!!

We have just finished the challenge. Hate to see it over, but know that I'm still going strong and moving forward with them next door. I love having them right there.
Final weight loss this week is holding steady at 35lbs! WOOHOOO!!!! Never realized I had that much to loose. Best thing I've ever done. Madi and I ran together the other night and she's still in better shape, but I held my own next to her 11 yo legs. It's ok I've decided...last fall I did good to not get tired just standing up!

The challenge starts up again for 2 new teams on Sunday, Dwayne is signing up again with a close friend, Chris. He is a colorful guy, so colorful that you can't help but love him. Now if I can keep him from telling West my 9 yo jokes! LOL!

Here's to more tractor tire flipping, car pushing, inch worming a football field (ok maybe not that long but it felt like it...even if I only made it 15 feet!), running challenges, weight trainging, and good ole butt kickings. Go get em red and blue!

Now here comes my favorite part...the AFTER photo sessions for all 20 on the teams.

DEFINING MOMENTS:There comes a moment in every persons life that is...well as a close friend put it "a defining moment". I had mine last fall and because of these wonderful people that came into my life I have learned so much with them. Self worth, endurance, strength inside out, and faith in myself. Not that I was lacking in all of these....well ok I was but I needed to be healthy and to show myself that I could do this. I want to be my best for my husband and for my kids, I want to feel creative all the time and to show them to dream big! I actually played for the first time in years in the snow one day with the kids, I mean rough and tumble, in your face kind of play. It was so sad that I didn't know how much I had missed it!

I am really pumped to moving in next door to the most amazing fitness group I have ever met! They have changed my life forever. I have dropped 35 lbs since November with them. Jessie, Jeremy, Ernie, Rana, and Nico are my heros. They are some of the most energentic instructors and personal trainers around! They are hard core but kind at the same time. Everything from training, specialty classes, karate, boxing, Selah, to children's classes. If your looking for something for your kids you've got to see the stuff they do. They also have awesome birthday parties there. And last but not least my man Matt who KINDLY tells me when I'm not having good form or squatting low enough. I know I need it...Thanks!) Recently we've signed on (Dwayne & I) to do the "biggest winner contest". A take off the "biggest looser" but here we're all winners. It's an 8 week challenge that has been amazing. I've seen changes in all 20 people, all different shapes and sizes. The 2 teams are both going for points and I think it's pretty close. Gotta give a shout out to my "RED TEAM"...you guys are awesome, I'm so proud of all of you. Ok "Go Blue", gotta cheer everyone on, they are all WINNERS!

I can't wait for you to meet them in our final challenge. I'll be sure to post pics. It's hard to take them when you're on the team!

PERSONAL CHALLENGE CONTEST:
Now that I have found that I do have what it takes, I know that I can make life changing decisions that will affect my whole family as well as some of the people around me. I have had, "my defining moment". I challenge you to find your inner self, I'm not saying you have to loose weight, exercise, (although it helps) I'm saying figure out something new for you. A class, a trip, a long lost friend, a forever friend, a personal challenge!

I can't believe it took me this long....

Oh my what a whirlwind this month has been! I finally have taken the step to move the studio our from the home. I will officially be open April 5th, but have sessions already booked all next week. I don't think Dwayne was happy that I kept pushing the opening date up. LOL! You all know me though, when I make up my mind I jump with both feet. It may take me a while to get there but when I do it's 100%.

We started painting this weekend. It's hard to believe I just signed the contract a week ago and I'm close to being ready to move in. That's even with the remodeling on the inside and painting that's going on. I have to say....My Husband Rocks!
Wonder what he's planning for where my office was, I wonder if there is a big screen in his future?

Thanks to everyone who popped in over the weekend to see the progress. I even had special visitors form 2 of my favorite kiddos, Allison and Christopher! What a surprise when they popped in with their daddy to see the progress. It made my day. Christopher actually got really close to painting, finger painting that is when he touched the wall! LOL! I wonder if Todd got them ice cream like I suggested before their dinner...Sorry T!

Special thanks to my lab and Melissa with Heart to Heart, without them I could not have pulled it together. I could have sold 10 of those rings right off the bat even last night out with friends. I can't wait for you all to see this stuff. It'll be on the website within the next week or so. They are so amazing, naturally I had to get me my own personal items and haven't taken the ring off yet! LOL! I am also the exclusive vendor for this jewelry in the Spfd area so if you are in need of any of this line or have a friend that want's something similiar to yours send them my way. Little Man Parker

What a little man! I got to spend the afternoon with this little guy. Parker is adorable, he has also just been born into a house of women. I'm sure that some of you have heard me talk about his big sister Sophie or tell stories on her.

I certainly hope that he continues to be as laid back as he is now! He must get that from his Daddy Gary, his momma is a little like me. Well need I say more that should explain enough! LOL!

Gotta love when clients start becoming like family. Love you guys!

Seriously you know I've gone crazy when I make the dog wear a tutu! This was something the kids found hilarious and knew that they had to have a valentine card made out of it. Just sharing!

Recent Retreat!

I know...I know I'm so bad about keeping this current!!!

No excuses except you all kept me so busy this last month or two that I just didn't have time to sneak away from all those amazing sessions. New Years Resolution: I will TRY to do better and keeping this up to date!

Current happenings...wow where to start I spent an amazing weekend recently doing a mini retreat with 5 other fantastic photographers from, OK, KS, Ill, and another right here by Jeff City. I can't ever have enough time to go into detail but we motivated each other, tried lighting out, posing tips were tossed around, and all kinds of tricks of the trade were swapped. Most important it has pushed each of us into a new area professionally. I think the most enlightening part for me was realizing how you all feel when we place you in front of the camera, the insecurity you might feel, the freedom you experience in having your moment captured! It was AWESOME. It definately put's your creative side to the test being in FRONT of the camera for a change. The images posted above are from our weekend and each of us had a go in front of and behind the camera. Some of them are mine and then others are from the girls. I think we all did great!

Now Mom's here's a heads up, we've all got something big planned. All I can say right now there are some BIG prizes up for grabs, the kicker is you will all be the stars! Oops said to much. Be sure to check back.

American Girl and Me Sessions!

I've been thinking here lately how cool it is that my 5th grader has been so into these dolls for the last 4 years and love how special they are to them. So in honor of my Madi and Lil, Miss. Brierly and her recent session, I am going to do a weekend special in January.

I will have special deals, such as 1/2 off session fees prepaid) with the packages starting at $50. There will be a minimum order on these sessions of the base package.
You can even get a gift card for Christmas for their very own American Girl and Me photo session!

Ok...new goal...try to at least type on here once a week. I've been so busy with sessions I haven't had time to update. I promise I'll "TRY" to do better!!!

1st note....NEW WEBSITE!

Hope you are enjoying it, I've got a lot more to do to it but wanted to at least get it up and going. I will be posting specials and letting everyone know about upcoming things.

2nd note....Discovery Center's Fundraiser is next week. I will be having a $600 gift certificate in the auction if anyone is interested. It goes to a great cause, and if you're there find me and say hi!

3rd thingy...I know I type just as screwy as I talk! LOL! That way at least you can hear my voice when you read. 1 week Christmas Card SALE!!!!!!

How many of you are like me and put off planning ahead for your cards? I know I am usually doing mine at the very last minute. As a way to say thanks for all of those that plan ahead I will be doing a 1/2 off creation design fee for the cards. It's normally $25-$50 for the fee but you all deserve a little help for me this year, that is if your a planner!!!!!!! Date for this sale will be Oct 7-13, just call or email me during that time and tell me what your plans are and we'll get that discount logged in for you. You will have to go ahead and prepay at that time for the balance of the creation design fee but that leaves more $$$$$ later for those cards!!!!

This year they are sooooo neat, you name it flat, double sided, something on all 4 sides, fancy paper, linen paper, water color paper.......soooooooo many choices!

Well I just got back from convention where I placed 3rd on my senior girl and merited on 2 others!!! Yeah me! Only 19 prints out of 96 got a merit and yours truly walked away with 2 of those. Oh that's not the only thing I brought back! How about a foot that they can't tell if it's broke or not! Kind of like the show must go on, I asked for a shoe or something I can work in, Horrible timing but I will NOT stop working. People to see, Things to do! Ok you all know me to well, it's really my personality, I'D DIE IF I SET STILL TO LONG!!!!! Wish I had a good story to tell of how it happened but in truth I just fell off a curb, asked for a bandage for the toenail that I took off part of and kept going. Until the next day when I couldn't walk. My shoe is at least black so it'll match almost ANYTHING! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh my....who knew that going back to school would open the flood gates! I've got plenty of openings for fall family pics but get scheduled soon, that phone is ringing NON-STOP this year!!! Thanks for all the referrals guys. I know that you're giving them since I don't advertise, your word of mouth about me is soooooo exciting. I'm keeping track.

Oh my night and day difference....each as beautiful in their own way. Talk about the personalities...They split their buddy session over 2 days and we had a ball! Loved that they did different hairstyles over the 2 days. I hope these images give you an idea of the diversity between these sisters. Enjoy Girls! Meet Erin, Taryn, and Sara. I am so fortunate to have taken Sara's senior session and now I get to take Erin and Taryn's this year also! Things are a little crazy at their house, college, senior year, boyfriends, moving....you name it it's going on. So today we did a session with the three girls to celebrate being sisters. You can tell their relationship with each other is a bond that can't be messed with. Thank you girls for allowing me the chance to celebrate your friendship/relationship today! Sara safe trip to Colorado!!!! Girls I'll see you at the dances!!!!

The Lacey Gang

I recently spent an early morning at the park with these 3 adorable toe~heads. It was perfect, the sun was out, they were wide awake, their parents and I were wide awake. LOL! They were troopers, and we just ran all over Phelps Grove Park. Their daddy even made it out for a couple of shots that day. Here are a couple from the session that just grabbed me.

We all have one, maybe two people who make a difference in our lives or someone who has helped make you who you are today. Let me introduce 4 of the 7 people that I could not have made my business without. They are my peers, mentors, best friends, confidants, some would say competition, but I truly feel blessed to have them in my life. Back row is myself, Pat Owens, Elise Ellis, front row is Martha Dameron and Christy Blehm. We are missing at least 3 others that are usually with us, Kenna Bartz, Brandon Hedgpeth, and Kirsten Twigg. We have been friends for years and continue to learn and grow from one another. Thanks for always being my towers of strength in my family life and business life. I'd also like to thank Gwen Prichard and Angela Deville whom I've only known for a year but it feels like a lifetime!!!

Oh my these 3 little cuties were great from the get go, and when they left I even got hugs and kisses!!!!!! Their mom had come to me wanting to capture who they are right now, the tutu's and toe shot was something that just happened when the girls saw them. I had to just turn them loose and this is one of those moments of them in the act. Troy and his toes, I just loved this abstract shot, his eyes are on nothing but those little piggies!

Their mom has always allowed me total artistic control and we have captured some of the most awesome natural moments in my history in the business. These 3 little ones personalities are as different as night and day. Not to mention the looks Olivia can give me, love her dimple! Chandler, you always look like so grown up. Tyler you are still my buddy, seriously he can give some of the best hugs! Their custom in home session was the perfect backdrop for each of their personalities, not to mention the amazing layout we got for the coffee table book for their mom!

The Photographer's Kids!

You know those moments as parents where you freak out right before your creation session, everything flashes through your brain from...
Do your socks match, don't drop anything on that shirt, you are going to smile if it kills you, don't touch your sister....LOL!!! Ok, seriously not all that but if we are taking the time to capture our families moments we "WANT" them perfect. I can handle any child but my own without stress, flash forward to my recent family pictures...
We are on the beach, the wind is 15+ mph, the last session of the trip is my own, West has his resort band on his arm and says..."don't worry mom I took care of my arm in the picture". I should have known to be worried, but NOOOOO, I wait until home to look close at the images of our family. He has tucked his arm into his shirt, it's completely MISSING from his body. I laughed so hard I cried, needless to say that will be getting enlarged just so I can enjoy that moment of innocence when they think they did something big. Just had to share that even us photographers have impaired "posed" family photos in our albums.

Destination Family Sessions!

Life has never been sweeter! I've had the pleasure of photographing some amazing families on Santa Rosa Island, Pensacola Beach, FL. The Portofino Island Resort was the perfect backdrop for some amazing photo ops! No matter whether we took candids or the posed images you just couldn't go wrong!!!!!

There were a total of 10 families in all and they all had sessions right there where we were staying at the resort. The beach was perfect, it was private and the dunes were built back up even better...there were hardly any people around, PERFECT!!!!!

I am seriously thinking that I might just have to offer this annually, this was the 2nd year for doing something like this. What is really neat is some of the families have been on both so it is really neat to look back and see how the kids have really grown!

Here are a couple of my favorites!

Brynn and Katie are a couple of sisters I met for the first time while on the trip, both their mom and Isabelle's mom let me have the pleasure of capturing moments while on the beach. They are going to be breathtaking young women before you know it! Look out momma's!

Isabelle, what a vibrant 2 year old! Those eyes and that grin had me the minute I saw her. I had the pleasure of working with her the day before I left at her home and on the trip. I'd have to say that little one was so much fun to watch on the beach!

Last but not least are a few shots of some of the kids from the group we traveled with. Wow, we had 18 kids just in the one group alone. The kicker is that, only 4 of them were GIRLS!!!! Sydney is the blond with the blue eyes that just shine. The brother and sister are Reid and Rachael, they live in Clinton and are one of my closest friends children. It's so neat to see them growing up.

What's Happening!

Hi there all! Things are going crazy here...been traveling the country, attending schools, get togethers with other photographers for mini training weekends. It's absolutely amazing what I can cram into this little brain of mine!!!!!

I have currently been working on my Senior Rep images for the 07-08 year. They are amazing!
I think we have Central, Greenwood, Ozark, Kicakpoo, Marshfield, and Nixa all represented this year. These kids have been so good to work with. I'm anxious to see who'll get that custom album at the end of the year. I'd love to see them all qualify.

I recently just got back from Florida where I was busy on family vacation as well as a working trip. The scenery was so gorgeous, the families were great to work with. All the images captured little moments here and there. It went so great I think I will start a destination plan every year. If you are interested let me know! This year was Santa Rosa Island, FL, in the past I've done Savannah, GA as well as Destin, FL.

More to come later, just trying to catch up on breathing and sleep!
